Uniformed Services ID (USID) for qualifying disabled veterans

A DoD identification pathway for veterans with a VA-documented 100% service-connected disability or qualifying 100% unemployability determination.

Who may qualify

Requires qualifying discharge (honorable or general under honorable conditions) and VA evidence. Other service-connected ratings alone do not establish USID eligibility. DEERS/RAPIDS verifies documents and eligible dependents. USID or a VA rating does not automatically establish TRICARE entitlement. P&T and IU are separate determinations.

What to check next

Contact a RAPIDS office through ID Card Office Online to confirm the required VA letter, service records and identity documents.

Agencies decide eligibility. This independent summary is a starting point, not an entitlement decision.

Who built this

Built and reviewed by Nathan Harlan, a U.S. Army Infantry veteran with 15 years of service, including two combat deployments to Iraq, and the founder of Ironsight Syndicate, a veteran-owned brand. I built this because finding the right benefits shouldn't take a law degree. This is an independent guide, not VA-accredited claims representation. For claims help, use a VA-accredited representative.
